Project is the designers own home on a South facing sunny golf course on beautiful Bainbridge Island. The plan has been a series of updates to this four bedroom shingle style home that showcases Helena Bierly’s penchant and appreciation of understated elegance. Helena acted as general contractor for to control the flow of the work and contain costs.

New appliances were purchased which included a Wolf range showcased by a mitered granite slab behind the stove. The shiny granite was honed to update the island and new stainless hardware was added and stainless appliances complete the look

The kitchen makeover included hiring a local master craftsman cabinet maker for a more custom gourmet kitchen. The upper cabinet faces were all replaced and the pantry which hides the microwave while the lower cabinets were replaced by grain matched custom drawers in cherry. The built-in cutting board was made to match the beautiful cherry, and with toe kick and all exposed trim and panels on the island.

The addition of a round table which encourages conversation as friends gather and new Palacek custom rattan and faux leather chairs are family friendly with a custom globe light fixture by a local Seattle artist.

The powder room has 9’ ceilings and is very narrow so, a large mirror and lighting serve to reflect the addition of Pierre Frey wallpaper from France entitled “Jardin du Palais” is a night evocation of a garden paradise that depicts a lush Persian landscape filled with exotic animals and a touch of whimsy. The vessel bronze sink is a main feature on the new countertop and sheepskin “pouf” was a fun addition.
